The Project

Pivot Point is a professional network for women making bold moves in their careers, their leadership, and their lives. It gives you the clarity, confidence, & tools to move boldly toward your goals without overworking, over-perfecting, or waiting for someone else to decide you’re ready.

The Background:

In her role at What You Do Matters, founder Brittany Neish wanted to create a safe space for professional women making bold career moves. As a startup venture, everything was on the table, including the programming.

My Role:

I was brought on as the chief experience officer to design programming to engage and attract members. My main focus has been to help create intimate, luxurious retreats that focus on learning, networking, and finding space to escape the everyday grind. My tasks include: event planning & logistics, vendor relationships, and customer communications.

Decisions:

Together, Brittany and I have collaborated to create a programming calendar and plan the individual events happening through the course of the year. The highlight of the programming calendar is the retreats. These are high-dollar, high-touch experiences. We have been learning from our users and experimenting. For instance, one decision based on early feedback was to move away from tourist activities to focus on learning experiences. Now, on our third event, we have landed on a formula that promises tangible results for attendees and delivers value to the business.

Outcomes:

Over the course of the first two years, membership is up 100%, and participation in the retreats is up 50%. The most exciting outcome has been the brand loyalty we have seen with these experiences. One-third of the attendees at our most recent retreat are repeat customers and have referred new members to the community. One attendee even referred to the retreat as “life-changing.”
